Pepper Spray

Pepper spray, or self-defense spray, temporarily blinds and incapacitates oncoming attackers using a specialized chemical that affects the mucus membranes causing an extremely uncomfortable burning sensation and swelling. Pepper spray is non-lethal and effective so much so that even law enforcement officers carry it with them. Small enough to fit in your pocket or purse, you can discreetly take your self-defense spray anywhere. Whether you’re jogging at night or walking to your car after work, you can use self-defense spray whenever you are approached by a threatening individual and have plenty of time to escape, get to safety, and call the police.

Keep in mind Mace is simply a brand name, it's usually used to indicate so-called tear gas products. Mace is essentially tear gas, usually called defense spray, and the name Mace may be associated with other products such as certain pepper sprays.

Some find that tear gas or a derivative of tear gas, which is available to civilians, is not as effective as pepper spray when it comes to personal defense. Mace is generally used to control large crowds or to force someone from a structure/room, and is used often by law enforcement and the military.

Mace is classified as an irritant, while pepper spray is classified as an inflammatory. Pepper spray has an immediate effect on most people, and generally will incapacitate an assailant. Tear gas available “over the counter” usually does not have an immediate effect on those intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

There may be restrictions on the concentration of the active ingredient when purchasing and there may be restriction on where Mace or Pepper Spray can be purchased. If there are restrictions then they would usually have to be bought from a licensed firearm dealer or even from a pharmacist.

For an effective, low cost way to enhance your personal protection, buy pepper sprays and defensive sprays from 6 O’clock Securities large selection. Always verify that it is legal to purchase and use pepper spray in your area before ordering.

Key chain pepper sprays are some of the fastest to grab from a belt loop, zipper, lanyard, wrist strap, or set of hand-carried house or car keys. If you have to fumble about in your bag for your weapon, then it is useless. Since everyone knows how to flip open and spray an aerosol device, pepper spray use is a no-brainer.

Aim for the eyes, nostrils, and face, where pepper spray ingredients can inflict the most pain. Train with practice pepper sprays to get ready. Oleoresin capsicum (OC), which is extracted from a variety of hot peppers, is the active ingredient. Regular pepper sprays use a 10% concentration of OC and are offered by all the top pepper spray brands from Mace to Pepper Shot.

WildFire pepper sprays are hotter, with 18% OC. Hot pepper spray is the strongest pepper spray you can buy for self-defense. OC causes an acute burning pain, constricts the airways, irritates the mucous membranes, and swells the eyes until they shut. The sprayed attacker will choke and cough relentlessly, fail to see clearly, and feel like burning in the next 15 to 40 minutes.

Tears and mucus will flow uncontrollably for the next several hours. None of these is a life-threatening effect. The use of pepper spray in law enforcement proves it is safe and it works. Besides standard stream or fogger pepper sprays, others use an innovative delivery system and can hit long distances. Sticky pepper gel and foam permeate the pores increasingly with every attempt to rub the stuff off, and they pose no risk of blowback or overspray.

A pepper gun can be sprayed continuously, even if upside down. A pepper baton combines a mini spray and a kubotan.
